Alfred Gusenbauer, politician and consultant - Biography
Alfred Gusenbauer, former chancellor of Austria and consultant for a number of international companies, has accepted the offer of Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Vucic to become his adviser.
Alfred Gusenbauer, the famous leader of Austrian Social Democrats, was born 8 February 1960 in Sankt Polten.
He studied political science, philosophy and law at the University of Vienna, and he received Ph.D. in philosophy in 1987. Gusenbauer started building his career at the Social Democratic Party in 1981, when he was named executive secretary for youth affairs at the party, it is stated in his biography at austria.gv.at.
He became a member of the Austrian parliament in 1991.
Gusenbauer was the 27th chancellor of Austria. He assumed this position in January 2007, replacing Wolfgan Schisel, and held it by the end of 2008.
As Tanjug news agency reports, Gusenbauer has his own consulting company and works as an adviser to a number of companies worldwide, including Novomatic and Equitas Capital. He is on the Managing Board of Strabag and Signa Prime Selection AG. Among his former clients are Hypo Alpe Adria Bank, Germany's WAZ Group, Austria's Alpine, and Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He is also an associate of Columbia University.
His company Gusenbauer Projektentwicklung & Beteiligung GmbH, with the headquarters in downtown Vienna, achieves significant business results. According to the media in Austria, this consulting company reported a balance sheet profit of EUR 3.23 million in the period 2009-2011.
