Ana Grebec, fashion designer - Dressing makes your wishes come true
She is known for design of dresses which merge glamor and chic of past times with new tendencies. A few days ago, she presented its new line of glamorous dresses which are available at fashion studio "Dressing". We talked with the designer Ana Grebec on trends for spring and summer, fashion in Serbia today, entrepreneurship in our country as well as her first steps in the world of “clothes”.
At the beginning of conversation for eKapija, fashion designer and an owner of Belgrade studio "Dressing" outlines that she has still been mainly occupied at work with creation of new dresses models.
Before the upcoming season of proms and official events, Grebec prepared new models.
- My second line has just been available for sale and it was made for proms, weddings and other special occasions. By the summer, I will be occupied solely with that topic and over the summer I have the upcoming work on new collection.
We asked Ana Grebec which models, materials and colors she recommends for the season spring/summer 2015?

The first fashion steps
Her fashion studio "Dressing" in March celebrated seven years and Grebec remembers how the frst steps in the world of fashion looked like. Born in Kikinda, she first went to acquire designer knowledge in Novi Sad.
The year of 2007 was crucial for the career of Ana Grebec. Then she came to the idea that it was the right time to have her own space where she would be able to present art.
- I agreed with two colleagues and the Dressing concept was made. I knew – it will be an author designer store where 6 designers will sell their version of fashion on 80 m2. Over the time, designer crew of Dressing was changing but the quality remained. At this moment, we have a crew for a longer period of time and it seems to be a winning combination.
In the past 10 years, Grebec is loyal to Belgrade Fashion Week and with her collections she also participated at the Zagreb Fashion Week and Toronto Alternative Fashion Week-u.
How is it to be like an entrepreneur in Serbia lately?
- On the one hand , it seems to me that today it is much more difficult than 10 years ago since there was a smaller number of designers, fashion organizations and agencies. One knew exactly where to exhibit, which model to hire, where to advertise and it seemed that all decision were, generally speaking, made much easier. In the meantime, fashion design became too popular occupation since it was somehow presented to the public as an easy thing to do. In fact, this is very difficult job and if you are not diligent, completely committed, talent itself will not mean a lot. Definitely, it takes talent but it is not sufficient. On the other hand, today it is easier to reach popularity and advertise goods which is definitely an advantage. However, when you have been in a business for a decade, you end in the situation that length of service and experience work for you.
Unique "tailor-made"clothes
Ana Grebec thinks that today both men and women, more than a few years ago, are interested to wear a piece of clothes which is authentic.
Our collocutor mentions that she meets clients ’wishes and designed with pleasure clothes for a specific person.
For "Lillo & Pippo" label of "Aksa" company, Grebec designed kids’ collection for spring/summer 2014 which she says was a huge experience.
Love as a drive
Grebec says that in Belgrade she likes relaxed, non-pretentious places and she is for sure "somewhere where rock’n’roll is playing".
- I have to admit I have very little free time but I use every moment to spend with friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere and I try to laugh as much as possible. It is for me the best way to spend the time.
The biggest success for her is to be happy and live unburdened for the moment and love is her main drive and guideline.
- But not love in romantic sense of the word as one thinks at first but love for everything that surrounds me- people, world around me, work, etc. You cannot make a big mistake in life if that is your basic motto. That and stay as you are, always and in every occasion.
