Project of Construction of Railroad to Surcin Becomes Current Again – French Alstom Interested in Rail Tracks to Future National Stadium and EXPO 2027

The French company Alstom is interested in continuing the cooperation with Serbia and investing in the rail sector, primarily the project of city railroads and the future connection from the city center to the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and the future National Stadium and exhibition space EXPO 2027, said Antonio Moreno, Cluster Managing Director Central & Eastern Europe at Alstom.

In his conversation with Goran Vesic, Serbian Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Moreno said that, for Alstom, the subway project was a strategic project and that the cooperation with Serbia was of extreme importance and added that they were interested in entering the Serbian market, the competent ministry announced.

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Belgrade, Alstom has designed the future subway cars, about which the citizens expressed their opinions last year.

Minister Vesic pointed out that the construction of the subway was a state project and said that this showed its importance for Serbia. He added that he was glad about the potential participation of Alstom in some future infrastructure projects as well.

He noted that, in 2023 alone, Serbia would set aside EUR 3.6 billion just for infrastructure and presented rail traffic projects, saying that the development of fast railroads and the connecting by railroads was one of the priorities.

He invited Alstom to apply for the tenders that would be published in the field of construction and reconstruction of railroads, just like all the other companies who wanted to do so.
