Meeting About Problems at Nikola Tesla Airport – Serbian Passengers Should Be Treated as Ones in Paris

A meeting with representatives of Vinci regarding the operations of the Nikola Tesla Airport is in progress, as announced by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, on his Twitter account.

– I demanded from the partners from the French company Vinci for them to urgently take measures which would lead to the full normalization of the situation at the Belgrade Airport. As a Serbian minister, I demand Serbian passengers to be treated the same way passengers in Paris are treated – he pointed out.

He pointed out that “it is necessary to employ a larger number of people, and the question of the number of the employees at the Belgrade Airport has to be treated the same way as it is treated at the company Vinci in France or anywhere else in the world.”

– I want to assure the public that the state is taking all the measures within its competence so that the Nikola Tesla Airport, which is under Vinci’s management, to be able to start functioning normally. We are not pushing the problems under the rug, but facing them directly, finding the most efficient solutions for overcoming them in the interest of our citizens – he concluded.

Let us remind that Air Serbia’s traffic from the Belgrade Airport in line with the planned flight schedule is still seriously hampered due to the slowed down operations and insufficient capacities of certain airport services, the company announced this weekend.

The Republic of Serbia can temporarily take over the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport from Vinci if the company doesn’t solve the problems urgently and if it doesn’t secure its normal functioning, the Vecernje Novosti newspaper and the Beta news agency write. As the newspaper wrote, this possibility is defined by an article in the Concession Agreement that representatives of the Government of Serbia, the Nikola Tesla Airport and Vinci signed in 2018.

– Our officials have openly threatened the management of this French company with utilizing that measure at the meetings that have been held in the past days – Novosti writes.
