The total investments in both factories amount to EUR 140 million and they will employ over 700 workers.
Three years ago, Continental opened the Research and Development Center in Novi Sad, where over 600 IT engineers work.
The completion of the first phase of the construction of the factory, which started in June 2021, was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who said that it would be the biggest factory in Serbia and that Continental would be the biggest exporter in Serbia.
– The contribution of Continental to the GDP will be over 2%, which no other company has. That’s a big thing for Serbia and will be a turning point in Serbia’s development – Vucic said.
He added that he was trying to convince Continental’s management to also build a third “high-tech mega factory” in Serbia and to do so in Nis.
– I promise that Continental will get an even bigger support of the state for a third factory in Serbia. I want to thank them for attracting smart people who would leave Serbia if it hadn’t been for their investment – Vucic said.
He also announced a quick implementation of dual education in all spheres and levels of education.
He reminded that, in 2015, German companies employed 17,000 people in Serbia and that they now employed 75,000.
– Serbia would not have such a successful economic growth if it hadn’t been for German investments – Vucic estimated.
The German company Continental AG, founded in 1871, operates in 59 countries and employs more than 240,000 people. They produce braking systems, electronics, safety equipment, parts of the drive system and car bodies, tachographs, tires and other components for the automotive and transportation industry.
