November to see salaries and pensions cuts

(Dusan Vujovic) Next week, the Government will consider budget rebalance and governing laws and deliver them for the assembly procedure immediately.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed it for Blic. It is expected that municipal discussion will last for a few days so the Government believe s that planned measures, including decrease of salaries in public sector and retirements will become effective I November already.

- All necessary opinion has been obtained. It was planned that already on Tuesday, boards and the Government after that voice their opinion. Everything is ready apart from regulations which should govern the announced salary and pensions cuts. The Government has still been running consultations on it – the Ministry of Finance says.

One of the problems is the fact that the Constitutional Court can declare a provision of the law which governs “solidary tax” unconstitutional because with this regulation allegedly the law maker differentiates the staff in public sector in line with the criteria which makes them unequal.

The retired are announcing similar initiative who claim that permanent pensions decrease hits the rights they acquired.

As it was confirmed, the Minister of Finance, Dusan Vujovic, is preparing a proposal of salaries and pensions cuts taking solutions from the world as model which the Constitutional Court could not reject.
