German Tonnies – a chance for Sremska Mitrovica-based Mitros

Some 1.000 employees at Mitros, slaughters and meat processors see that finally there is a possibility for them to be sold finally to a real slaughter company after successful talks in Germany between the Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic and owner of meat industry Tonnies Clemens.

Mitros’s employees are satisfied and they hope to return to work at their machines soon.

The staff is ready to return to production. They are aware there is still a way to go but that it is also realistic and likely to happen. Aserahc for serious buyer for Mitros has been ongoing for some time.

Srem-based giant with completely new section of slaughter company and chicken meat processing, with sections generating daily production of 20 tons of meat and beef meat products, and with more than 10 ha of construction land, was sold in 2005 to Swisslion – Takovo for only RSD 36 m. The contract was terminated soon after that and the Agency for Privatization has tried to find an adequate buyer for three times already.
