Construction of the Zezelj Bridge to continue by the end of September
The agreement on continuation of the Zezelj bridge construction was finally signed and the works will start again by the end of the months.
This is the epilog of negotiations which has been lasting
for a few months of Zeleznice Srbije as an investor and the Ministry of
construction, traffic and infrastructure with the contractor, Spanish-Italian
consortium, Azvi–Tadei–Horta Koslada (AZVI).
The contractor now has a new deadline of 17 months to complete the works.
The Ministry announced that the total value of the works increased by EUR 2, 9 mil. Apart from that, contractors will get additional EUR1, 7 m which was a reserve in the basic contract.
Zeleznice have already paid 237.000 and EUR 341.000 was left
to be paid. Novi Sad and Vojvodina should pay additional bridge price but the
problem is that they do not have funds so it is sure that their budgets will
have to undergo new rebalance, 24sata reports.
The works were halted because AZVI asked for additional funds due to increased costs of extracting the remnants of the demolished concrete bridge.
So far, 27% of the works have been done at the Zezelj bridge and at the moment only a few workers maintains the steel construction which started corroding. The contracted works value was EUR 45,3 mil at the beginning of the bridge construction (EUR 26,2 m funded by the EUD and EUR 19,1 m by Vojvodina and Novi Sad).
