Minister Parivodić announced solution to problem between State and tobacco industry
The day for the ratification of CEFTA agreement is slowly approaching and Serbia will then have to say if it gives up CEFTA or the privileges to the tobacco industry.
The Minister of International Economic Relations, Milan Parivodić, who spoke in Brussels with the EU Trade Commissar, Peter Mendelson, about the problem of the treatment of tobacco industry in Serbia after the signing of the regional agreement on free trade CEFTA, announces solution to the problem. The details of the solution that managed to reconcile the irreconcilable have not yet been revealed to the public.
Parivodić says that the public will know the details after the meeting of the Government on next Thursday, but he claims that the Trade Commissar Mendelson was satisfied with the offered solution.
- He was very satisfied with the fact that we managed to reach the agreement with companies "Philip Morris" and "Japan tobacco" about the position of the State towards tobacco industry. I have confirmed that we will respect the obligations and that we will support the real free trade in the Balkans with all our partners in the region - said Parivodić.
