Who will be new General Manager at RTS?
Although the law says differently, that the RTS Managing Board will elect the new General Manager after the selection, the crucial role in the selection will be entitled to the Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic. As Blic finds out, Vucic will choose a General Manager among at least six candidates whom he has already talked to.
One of the most serious candidates is Goran Karadzic, current president of the RRA, the institution which will only change the name into the Regulatory Council after the new law. According to the law, Karadzic has the right to be reselected for the president of the the Regulatory Council but not small number of people believes that he will move to Takovska 10 instead of going to the Council. However, Karadzic says for Blic he has not had interviews with the Prime Minister with respect to his transfer to RTS.
- I have not discussed that with the Prime Minister and I do not think he will discuss it because the GM of the public service is to be elected by the Managing Board after the competition – Karadzic replies.
Blic finds out also that the second candidate of Vucic is Dejan Jocic, a co-owner and the main editor at TV Nova. Jocic has sufficient experience with televisions, he worked on TV Prva after the television was bought by Greek Antena from Fox with which he was successful in Serbia. After leaving Prva, with the support of German partners, he set up TV Nova but the project is about to shut down because RRA did not want to provide them national frequency twice.
- The only thing I can say is that I already have a serious offer of a foreign media company to manage their television – Jocic was undetermined, answering to our question.
Apart from these two people, a big philanthropist and a GM for years at B92, Veran Matic. TV Happy Milomir Maric from TV Happy is also mentioned as one of the possible solutions and connoisseurs of media scene say the ex editor of BK Television and the main editor of TV Avala, Srdjan Djuric, should not be left out either.
At the end, the option that, if the relation with the Prime Minister Vucic is known, in the race for the RTS General Manager, the owner of TV Pink, Zeljko Mitrovic appears as well. However, based on media laws, it is obvious that Mitrovic’s influence weakens because some suggestions he was supporting were not adopted.
