VULIN: Equalization of retirement dates will be gradual
(Aleksandar Vulin) Minister of Labour Aleksandar Vulin said on 9 July that Serbia has the lowest retirement dates and claimed it as unsustainable.
Meeting the members of National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), he said to the press that he expects a new law adoption, which would equalize retirement dates of both men and women at the age of 65, by 2032.
According to Vulin, all the Ministries have placed their opinion and adoption of the Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance is expected.
This is a "mathematics law" where legislation adjusts to the legislation of EU and there is no need for public discussion.
Speaking about world standards, Minister of Labour said it is necessary for a country to have three employed people per a pensioner, in order to bear it financially.
- We have 1.7 million of pensioners. Multiply it by three and it will be obvious that Serbia does not have so many employed people – said Serbian Minister of Labour.
