(Mobile dam)

Today, thousands of volunteers are filling sandbags in Serbia and fortifying riverbanks, hoping to stem the tide of rivers. They have managed to save the cities, but the flood warning is still in effect.

These days the most read news story is the one about flood protection system promoted in 2011 in Novi Sad.

However, this mobile equipment is designed specifically for Novi Sad and can be used only there, said people at the Vode Vojvodine company.

Mobile equipment designed to protect the city of Novi Sad from the Danube floods guarantees the defense of the biggest city in Vojvodina and installing it on the embankment in Novi Sad closes up the passages on lower bends and cambers.

When the Danube water level goes above 750 cm near Novi Sad (flood warning is issued at 700 cm), then the mobile equipment is set up.

Water wall flood barrier

A few interesting solutions come from Korekt Company. These are "water wall flood barriers" and "Beaver flood protection system".

It takes only 14 hours to erect a 100m of water wall.

Water wall is made from a high-quality rubber-coated PES fabric. Thanks to the EPDM rubber compound, the water walls are highly resistant to ozone and UV rays and designed to last long. These rubber bags are equipped with non-corroding inlet and outlet valves.

When filled with water, these walls are environment friendly and, after use, they are simply emptied, cleaned, folded and stored in a proper space.

That is not the case with sandbags, which are wet after use and can only be disposed of at appropriate landfills.

Beaver flood protection system

Beaver flood protection system is used to protect the environment (cities, villages, towns, fields), facilities (houses, buildings, industrial halls), private buildings (garages, cellars, stairways).

The system can retain and redirect water in case of river or lake flooding, or store water during the rains for the purpose of firefighting.

Eight people can build a 320 m long dam in 1.5 hours. The wall is 30 – 180 cm high, and the module length is 5, 10, 15 and 20 m, while its thermal range is between −30 and +70°C.
