Floods to affect fruits and vegetables the most
Nenad Budimovic, the secretary of the Agriculture Association of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC), stated that fruits and vegetables would be affected the most by floods in Serbia.
He told Beta news agency that the most endangered were strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, bluberries, as well as all types of early vegetables.
Budimovic added that a general opinion was that the consequences of flood-causing rains in Serbia would be catastrophic to the agricultural sector in Serbia, especially in the regions that had already suffered damages from natural disasters the month earlier.
He pointed out that there would be enough agricultural products to satisfy the needs of people in Serbia because the region of Vojvodina was not so seriously struck by floods, but he underlined that Serbia's exports would be significantly reduced, particularly fruit exports.
