Favorite chocolate spread turns 50

Nutella, the nutty chocolate spread, is turning 50 this month. As this jubilee is approaching, the statistics say that one jar of Nutella is sold every 2.5 seconds worldwide.

The first jars of Nutella, a product made by the Italian company Ferrero based in Alba, Piedmont, hit the shelves on 20 April 1964. This sweet spread achieved a great success very quickly and remained popular until today.

The exact composition of this product is kept secret by the Ferrero company. According to what the jar label says, the main ingredients are sugar, various herbal oils, nuts and cocoa.

Nutella is a favorite confectionery in Italy and across Europe, as well as in many other countries worldwide.
