Luxury cruiser Amavista built in Mitrovica - EUR 20 million ship launched at Sava shipyard

The first passenger ship built in the renovated shipyard Sava in Macvanska Mitrovica, which was taken over by the Dutch company Vahali, was launched Friday (11 April 2014).
As announced on the website of the city of Sremska Mitrovica, a river cruiser called Amavista, 135 meters long and 16 meters wide, is built for a foreign buyer. Priced at EUR 20 million, it has a capacity of 150 passengers.

Sava shipyard in Macvanska Mitrovica was sold exactly a year ago, after a nine-year bankruptcy, in the seventh attempt. The Dutch investor had the shipyard renovated, returned about 350 workers to their jobs and started production, that is, export.
- It took us five and a half months to build this passenger ship. We are satisfied with our performance here, and we picked Serbia because of its skilled manpower and good geographic position - the website sremskamitrovica.org.rs cites Vahali General Manager Vincent Becker as saying.

By the way, the Dutch company Vahali exists since 1923 and operates in Serbia for ten years. The shipyard they bought is situated in New Belgrade. As they say, they came here without any subsidies and relocated almost the entire ship production from the Netherlands to the Sava River in Belgrade.

The ship Amavista was ordered by the US company AmaWaterways, the Vojvodina broadcasting corporation Radio-televizija Vojvodine announced.
