National Football Stadium project abandoned - Reconstruction of stadium of Crvena Zvezda or Partizan more likely to happen
Tomislav Karadzic, the president of the Football Association of Serbia (FSS), indicated at a session of the FSS Assembly on March 18th that the construction of national stadium was not going to happen.
Although the FSS had an idea to build a stadium that would serve as one of the venues for Euro 2020 matches, Karadzic said that it would be more feasible to have one of our two largest stadiums reconstructed for that purpose.
- According to the latest information, it is more realistic to have the Marakana stadium or the stadium of Partizan FC reconstructed than to get a location for the national stadium - said Karadzic.
However, Serbia will definitely obtain a modern football stadium in line with the highest standards in the near future.
- The issue of the national stadium is still open because Belgrade needs such a facility for the European Championship, the Champions League, and the Europa League - Karadzic concluded.
