Ferrari to open theme park in Barcelona
Italian carmaker Ferrari plans to open its first theme park in Europe in 2016 in one of the biggest European fun parks - PortAventura, in the vicinity of Barcelona. The value of this project is expected to reach EUR 100 million, the company representatives announced when signing an agreement to build a new, luxury Ferrary hotel and theme park some hundred kilometers south of Barcelona, Belgian electronic media have reported.
The new theme park will occupy a surface area of 75,000 square meters and offer various attractions for all lovers of this brand. The main attraction will be the fastest vertical ride in Europe. Visitors can stay at a five-star hotel that, aside from 250 rooms and a variety of restaurants, also features driving simulators. PortAventura attracts over 4,000,000 visitors every year with foreigners accounting for 50 percent of them. In 2010, the Italian company opened the world's largest indoor theme park Ferrari World on the island Jas in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. It has achieved a huge success.
