Telekom Srbija (not)to buy Dunav banka?

Telekom Srbija has neither acquired nor thought about acquiring Dunav banka, but only considered possible forms of cooperation with that bank, the national telecom firm announced in a release today, commenting on speculations in the media that it is planning to take over Dunav banka.

The size, scope of operations and technical equipment of Dunav banka were the main reasons why the cooperation with that bank was taken in consideration, but that does not rule out the possibility of Telekom Srbija entering into cooperation with other banks as well, the release reads.

This release came as a reaction of Telekom Srbija to a text published in the daily Danas saying that the Executive Board of that telecom firm adopted a decision at its Tuesday`s session on cooperation between that company and the Dunav group in the due diligence on Dunav banka with the aim of considering the opportunities for further development of business cooperation.

- No decision has been made yet, an agreement in principle is prepared, but the details are yet to be specified. The interests of several parties to this deal need to be aligned in order to make it happen. Aside from Telekom, there is also Dunav osiguranje, a majority owner of the bank - people at Dunav banka told Danas unofficially.
