Banca Intesa officially part of group "Intesa Sanpaolo"
Banca Intesa has announced that, starting from January 1, 2007, it operates as a part of the larger banking group "Intesa Sanpaolo", which was formed through merging of two Italian banks - Sanpaolo IMI and Banca Intesa.
Newly formed group "Intesa Sanpaolo", which is the fifth largest bank in Europe and among 15 biggest in the world, serves more than 18m clients through the business network of 7,000 branches in 34 countries.
Merging of these two banks significantly improved presence in the region of central and east Europe, the proof of which is the number of 6m clients and 1,400 branches in 10 countries.
Aside from Serbia, Banca Intesa developed its business in Croatia (Privredna banka Zagreb), Bosnia (Upi Banka), Slovakia (VUB Banka), Hungary (CIB Bank), Russia (KMB Bank) and Ukraine (Ukrsotsbank). Sanpaolo IMI is present on the markets of Slovenia, Romania and Albania, whereas both banks operate paralelly in Hungary and Serbia (Panonska banka).
