Hazelnut trees around Nis - Ecorans to invest EUR 10 million in production at Siroka Padina

Ecorans, a company registered in Pirot that is owned by Ilija Nemski from Bulgaria, is interested in investing EUR 10 million over the next five years in hazelnut production at the location of Siroka Padina near Nis, on an area of 150 hectares, it was said today after a meeting between the representatives of the city and that company.

According to Assistant Mayor Jovan Stojkovic, an agreement could be signed in mid-2014, and aforementioned hazelnut plantation would employ about 100 workers.

Nemski told the press that the plan was to annually produce about 1,000 tonnes of hazelnut for export and companies that make top-quality chocolate in Switzerland, Italy and Germany.

- The annual production of 1,000 tonnes of hazelnut could be achieved by 2020 - Nemski stressed.
