Zezelj on pillars by year's end - Bridge in Novi Sad should open to traffic by summer 2015
The entire structure of the new Zezelj Bridge will be erected by the end of 2014, and the bridge should be completely finished by the summer 2015, said Srecko Ugrica, the director of the project involving the construction of a bridge 466 meters long and 19 meters wide.
Two thirds of the necessary funds for this EUR 45 million project are provided by the EU and the rest by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the City of Novi Sad. The contractor is the Spanish-Italian consortium AZVI, and the works are currently almost a year and a half behid the schedule.
White beauty
The new Zezelj Bridge will actually be a replica of the old one that was torn down during the NATO bombing of our country in April 1999. It will be completely painted in white.
