Forty million stockings for Russian market - Real Knitting to hire additional 200 workers in Gajdobra in 2014
Real Knitting, one of the largest stocking factories in the Balkans that employs 450 people in Serbia, has been operating in Gajdobra for two years now, and the fact that a new production facility will be finished and another 200 workers hired this year speaks volumes about the satisfaction of Italian-Russian partners with the business. Then this factory will definitely become the largest of the kind in the region, and complete production - measured in tens of millions of pieces - will be marketed in the Russian Federation.
Let us remind that Real Knitting is a direct consequence of the trade agreement on special relations between Serbia and Russia, while Italians came to Gajdobra because of low wages, cheap energy and the fact that there are no tariff barriers to export to the Russian Federation. So far, a total of EUR 10 million has been invested in the factory. Once the new production complex is finished, the surface area covered by the factory will exceed 20,000 square meters.
- Local workers learn fast and respect their job, and we as investors are also extremely satisfied with the relationship we have with Backa Palanka authorities - says Andrea Picokolo, one of the operations managers of the Italian-Russian company.
- All this has motivated us to expand our business, so we plan to produce as many as 40 million stockings for women in Serbia this year.
