Passenger train transport established on the relation Kraljevo - Krusevac - Stalac - Paracin

Passenger train on the relation Kraljevo - Krusevac - Stalac - Paracin has been established again since Tuesday, after 8 years of break due to a bad condition of the railway structure. As it was pointed out on the occasion of the promotional ride from Krusevac to Stalac with the chairmen of PE `Railways of Serbia`, representatives of the City Administration of Krusevac and the media, this rail connects the heart of Serbia.

It was careless to cancel a connection along the direction with around 320.000 citizens, said Dragoljub Simonovic, CEO `Railways of Serbia`. - On this connection, we have 23 railway stations, 32 bridges and 85 rail crossings, out of which 70 secured by road signalization. The rail capacity is around 22 tons, and the goal is to reach 60 and 100 km/ h speed.

Around 60 million RSD has been invested in reconstruction of the rail Krusevac - Stalac since 2005, but passenger transportation hasn`t been started.

- This year we plan investments in the amount 250.000-300.000 eur, only for reconstruction of this section, said Vladimir Radovic, director of the Directorate for Infrastructure at `Railways of Serbia`. - Welding of the rails still has to be done, in order to reach the speed of 40-50 km/h, and in the first quarter, regulation of the rail direction will also be done, as well as adaptation of certain points and cleaning of canals. Sanitation of the bridge across the river Morava is planned for 2015.

The train from Kraljevo to Paracin leaves at 4.40 am and at 2.30 pm, and the train from Paracin to Kraljevo leaves at 7.45 am and 5.50 pm. The journey through Krusevac and Stalac will last 2 hours and 50 minutes. For Krusevac, Trstenik citizens and tourists of Vrnjacka Banja, this renovation is very significant.

- Revival of the infrastructure is necessary before the arrival of investors, but also it is important for students and workers at `Prva petoletka` and IMK `14.oktobar`, said Branislav Gasic, Krusevac Mayor. - In this way, we have connected Krusevac city with Corridor 10.

About 300 km rail on Corridor 10 and around it will be reconstructed in the next 3 years. New 600-700 km of rail will be open in the next 5 years, and as yet as by the end of 2015, 60 new trains will operate in the country. The first train arrives in December, and it is expected that 26 more trains will be purchased with the help of the Russian loan.
