Kosovo`s authorities decided to stop the privatization process of "Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo" (PTK ), it was stated on 31 December 2013 by the Minister of Economic Development of Kosovo and Metohija, Fadil Ismajlji.

Ismajlji said that the decision on the termination of privatization was made by an interministerial committee that took into account the views of members of the Assembly of Kosovo.

- The final recommendation of advisers was that the process could not be continued after 30 December, as defined in the documents . We were forced to act in accordance with the mandatory documents - said Ismajlji to reporters.

The decision of the competent Commission of the termination of the privatization process was handed over to the Government of Kosovo on December 31.

The Kosovo Assembly previously could not consider the report of the inter-ministerial committee on the privatization of PTK , as opposition MPs left the session , and there was no quorum.

Public criticism of way the privatization of PTK was handled due to lack of transparency , as well as the letter of the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Jakup Krasnici, to the companies that participated in the privatization process , influenced the Kosovo Government to ask the Assembly to reconsider the report on the privatization of the company once more.

A number of MPs from the opposition parties, who were joined by some MPs of the ruling coalition , demanded the establishment of the investigative committee for the evaluation of the privatization of PTK.

President of the Assembly, Krasnici has opposed the privatization in public as well as at discussions in Parliament.

The opposition has asked for a parliamentary debate on the privatization of the company on two occasions, but both times they were in the minority.
