New players in media match - Nova.rs arrived, Kanal 3 to start at New Year’s Eve and April 2014 to see TV N1

Lately, despite the media market crisis new televisions in Serbia emerge. Nova.rs has recently started broadcasting program and the spring should see TV N1 while in New Year’s Eve, Kanal 3 will join media sky.

As the founders, Igor Miklja, Sergej Trifunovic and Bosko Jaksic announced at the first press confenerce held on Friday (December, 27, 2013), only citizens of Belgrade and Novi Sad will have the option to watch Kanal 3.

- We are negotiating with cable operators and hope soon whole Serbia will watch us soone – Igor Miklja said and added that they reached agreement with some centers in Ljubljana, Zagreb and Sarajevi which will fill in the program of Belgrade television.

The RRA decision implies regional terrestrial frequency to Kanal 3 which will enable signal during New Year’s holidays until broadcasting complete program scheme in February 2014.

The television will be headquartered in Knez Mihailova St. 1 where construction of a broadcasting studio is coming to an end.

The founders announce that Kanal 3 will offer entirely different media product compared to everything else at media scene in Serbia because, as they say, the idea is that half of the content is based on alive program and the interaction with the public will be published mostly via Facebook.

Since he did not want to speculate with the names of editors, Miklja said their names will be known in a month.

Although media were announcing that new TV is a rehabilitation of Treci kanal, Miklja neglected it, stating that Kanal 3 will still have the energy and the spirit of the famous television.

Nova.rs TV – investment of EUR 18 mil

Nova.rs started partial broadcasting December 17. As PR Manager, Sreten Radovic, said for eKapija, this is the initial broadcasting stage and as of February next year diverse complete program scheme will start.

During the competition which Nova.rs released and which lasted for eleven months, nearly7.000 applications were received and there are vacancies for 450 candidates, the number which will be hired during 2014 in currently youngest media house in the Balkans.

When it comes to program offer, Radovic sets aside Department and Clues as well as an everyday short form program, Short history of Serbia, with Nikola Simic and Lane Gutovic.

- Fun foreign formats will be listed in our program. Roland Garros will be available on Nova.rs television and our public will be able to watch Real Madrid - Paris Saint Germaine match January 2 – Radovic is announcing in his interview for our portal.

TV N1 – the first regional informative channel

Channel N1, the first regional informative channel at the region of former Yugoslavia will be launched in April 2014 for more than 15 million spectators in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

The cooperation agreement with Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited, which owns CNN International, enabled N1 to become an exclusive partner of CNN in the region. N1 will broadcast program from three big information-broadcasting centers in Belgrade, Zagreb and Sarajevo as well as from local centers located in cities region-wide.

- Cooperation with CNN bring us precious experience iin journalism, editing and program creation. With a large number of vacancies, local journalists and technicians will have a unique opportunity to attend trainings of our partner, CNN and to fulfill high criteria of reporting – Sadler points out.

The agreement with CNN enables N1 to broadcast selected programs translated into local languages.

In late November, Jugoslav Cosic confirmed he agreed with N1 management of television on position of new director in Belgrade.

- New television will bring a lot to people from media industry who are hired but their future public in the region will gain the most out of it - Cosic said.

The main financial investor of the N1 channel is United Group, the leading pay TV platform in the Southeast Europe which comprises SBB, Telemach Sloveniju and Telemah BiH.

So, we will step into New Year with a few media players more and we should now wait and see what kind of changes they will bring.
