Diaspora invited to take part in privatization process in Serbia
Vladimir Milenkovic, acting director of the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), has invited investors from the Diaspora to take part in the privatization process in Serbia.
He said that Serbia had potential, especially in agriculture and industry.
- It is necessary to work on the development of economy and industry in order to employ young people - Milenkovic told the business conference "Serbia and Diaspora".
As he explained, Serbia annually gets between 7 and 8 billion euros from the Diaspora, but only small share of that money is spent on investments.
Vukman Krivokuca, assistant director of the Serbian government's Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, noted that it had been concluded at the conference that the potential and opportunities for cooperation between Serbia and the Diaspora were insufficiently exploited.
Krivokuca added that it was necessary to form an association of businessmen from the Diaspora and to present concrete projects of local self-governments.
