Vračar will become big building site in next five years. The Project for organization of the Vračar plateau, the surface between the St Sava Temple, Šumatovačka and Katanićeva Street, all the way to the Čubura park, will be on public display. The City Parliament should adopt the plan in June 2005 and give the green light for the commencement of construction. Mekenzijeva Street will become one of the main roads that goes through Čubura.

Churchyard of the St Sava Temple will be completed soon. Construction of three big garages is in the pipeline - one near the Čubura park, one in Malajnička Street and one beneath the road in Skerlićeva Street. Detailed plan for organization of this part of the city was created in 1991. Coordinators of this Project are Đorđe Bobić, city architect and Vesna Vladisavljević, architect from the City Planning Institute. New investors will be able to have buildings of maximum five floors built. According to words of Bobić, one of the most important changes is cancellation of the Vračar Boulevard – main road that would pass beneath the National Library. Mekenzijeva Street will be, according to the plan, important trade - business street. Bobić pointed out that none house would be torn down. For each location on which, according to Land-utilization Plan, the construction of some bigger facility is planned, owner of the facilities will decide whether to allot the land for the construction. Municipality will announce tender for construction of garages because the City will not be doing that anymore. From now on, that will be the job for private investors.

One of the problems in the Land-utilization Plan is the construction of school for children with special needs in Dubljanska Street. That investment costs a lot and 14 houses are to be torn down. Only moving of the tenants would cost as much as its construction.
