At the prestigious aviation industry trade show Dubai Airshow, Etihad Airways placed an order with Boeing on Sunday (17 November 2013) for 56 new aircraft, for which USD 25.2 billion will be set aside.
Etihad Airways President James Hogan told a press conference that the company had placed an order for 56 aircraft, adding that there was a possibility of Etihad buying another 26 aircraft from the same manufacturer.

The company placed an order for 25 Boeing 777X aircraft (17 777-9X's and eight 777-8X's). They also ordered 30 Boeing Dreamliner 787-10's.

By the way, Etihad Airways is the first company to buy aircraft of the next generation - 777-8X, which won't be operated before 2020.

This company, which is also a co-owner of Air Serbia, celebrated its tenth anniversary last week.

Aside from buying Boeing aircraft, Etihad also signed a USD 19 billion agreement to buy 87 airplanes from Airbus.
