Purchasing power far below average - People in Europe annually spend about EUR 12,890, in Serbia only EUR 3,032
The average purchasing power of consumers in 42 countries in Europe is EUR 12,890, while in Serbia this number stands at EUR 3,032, it is indicated in a new study produced by the global research company GfK, entitled "Purchasing Power in Europe 2013/2014."
Of the 42 countries, Liechtenstein topped the list with EUR 58,844, 4.5 times the European average. Switzerland and Norway followed with EUR 36,352 and EUR 31,707, respectively.
Germans have EUR 20,621 at their disposal annually, Poland ranks 28th with half of the European average - EUR 5,870, whereas Ukrainians spend only EUR 2,206 EUR per year.
At the bottom of the list is Moldova with EUR 1,284 per capita, which is one tenth of the European average.
According to this study, the 7.2 million inhabitants of Serbia have a total purchasing power of EUR 22 billion or EUR 3,032 per person, which puts Serbia in spot 34 in Europe.
