Nis-based Yumis does not stop investments - New products in confectionary sector underway, instant soups and breakthrough to new markets
Lower product price and a wide range of products in Nis-based Yumis brought this food industry in Serbia to achieve everything it could so it is now planning to focus on foreign market, General Manager, Jagoda Nikolic says.
They achieved additional scope through producing for almost all private labels in our country and they do not stop investments although there are no funds.
Late last year, Yumis started producing confectionary products in Vrtiste-based section near Nis. There are some thirty people and monthly production totals some 100 tons of different items.
Before that, a section in Vrtiste did not function for full six years since the company which built it went bankrupt.
As the owner of Yumis, Milan Kocic, previously said, they started production in that company in order to fulfill their production program they already have.
- We are speaking about products sold in large quantities and none of the companies in Serbia produces them. Confectionary products arrive at the local market from Turkey, Greece, Russia and other countries- Kocic said.
It is the confectionary sector where new products should be expected.
- In order to survive at the market we must produce something new. Last year, we started production of cookies and we are planning to expand our product range in this part. Therefore, new products are expected in this category – Jagoda Nikolic, General Manager at Yumis says for ekapija.
At the same time, the Development and Quality Control Department is working on instant soups recipe. They think they present a world trend and that Yumis must follow trends if it wants a good position at other markets as well.
- The "kocka" brand and instant soups are in demand at the market and after the brand "Soup for two", offer of soups will be complete and will signify our definite takeover of leader position - the company representatives say.
Never enough of investmentsWhen it comes to new projects, company’s General Manager says for eKapija that they are constantly investing and that investments are never enough.
- At this moment there are not enough funds for new investments. Our annual planned investments range between EUR 200 and 500.000, which is also a small amount – Nikolic says.
Private labels
There is almost no shop where you cannot find at least a product of this Nis-based company, if not under the name “Yumis” then under some other PL name.
- We produce for all private labels, for all systems from our label group. If the future lies in that, we accepted it. But, of course, we are working on our brand development at the same time.
A collocutor of our portal says that production for others had positive effects on their business. .
- Everybody we cooperate with see it as a partnership relation. Along with this, there is Yumis brand sales and private labels because it is in fact our products regardless of the fact that it is called Premia, Yumis, K Plus, Mercator or something else. We behave equally to all private labels, the same as we do to our own brand.
Let’s move on
When it comes to upcoming plans, General Manager at Yumis says they strive for hiring new staff, to generate higher volume in sales and to expand export activities because “they achieved everything they could” at the local market.
Otherwise, products of this food industry are available in all neighboring countries, as well as in Sweden, Germany, USA, Italy and Croatia as well as in Russia.
