RIV to start producing Pyrex glass in Zitoradja soon - Italian factory to hire 400 workers
The Serbian government has signed an agreement with the Italian Pyrex glass manufacturer RIV (Rosati Industria Vetro) on the opening of a new factory in Zitoradja that should employ a total of 400 workers, people at that municipality told Beta news agency today.
Zitoradja Deputy Mayor Jovica Stanisavljevic said that Italians had also rented a production facility of former EI Nis in that municipality for the needs of their new factory.
- We expect them to bring machines and assemble equipment and put the factory into operation very soon - said Stanisavljevic.
He stressed that several foreign companies were interested in renting the former facility of EI Nis, adding that a lease agreement had already been signed with RIV.
- The new factory will be of great importance for Zitoradja where the unemployment rate is quite high - Beta cited Stanisavljevic as saying.
The municipality of Zitoradja is mainly focused on the agricultural industry with most of its population growing early vegetables, fruits and bread wheat.
By the way, this project was launched over a year and a half ago, when Italians were promised investment incetives. As the local newspaper Toplicke Vesti (www.toplickevesti.com) reported recently, the Annex to the agreement with the government that has just been signed will make it possible to finally set this investment in motion.
