First part of new Michelin factory in Pirot to be finished in H2 2014
First phase of construction of Michelin's new production facility in Pirot, which is valued at EUR 170 million and should employ about 700 workers, will be completed in one year, the Pirot municipality said in a release.
According to that release, managers of the companies hired to build that facility and Pirot authorities said at a meeting that the first phase would see the construction of about 57,000 square meters of production space and 14,000 square meters of storage space.
The value of construction works in the first phase exceeds EUR 45 million, whereas the value of whole investment that should be implemented by 2016 is approximately EUR 170 million. Once the new factory is finished, as many as 12 million tires will be produced annually - the release reads.
It is also said in the release that there are currently about 200 people from companies Deneza and Termoinzenjering working on the building site, but that number is expected to grow to 400-500 very soon.
A delegation of the Pirot municipality that visited the building site consisted of Pirot Mayor Milan Popovic, Deputy Pirot Mayor Aleksandar Z. Ciric, and Director of the Development Directorate Branislav Kostic.
