- Everyone in Belgrade has a great pleasure for participating today on the ceremony of setting the foundation stone for construction of the new Japanese Embassy. For more than 20 years, we are waiting for this construction, and let me remind you that we are talking about a friendly nation, to which can not thank enough for all support it has given us. Japan is the country that helped us most at the hardest times and we will always remember that. We are pleased that we could help overpass property issues, which was done by the Ministry and gave all necessary licences. The city of Belgrade will make the area in front of the Embassy into a lovely Japanese park, thus this will be known as a street of Japanese Embassy, said Dejan Vasovic.
Masafumi Kuroki, Ambassador of Japan, said that Japan and Serbia had very good relations and that Japan considered our country to be very important in this region.
- We are trying our best to keep the good relations and we are hoping that the construction of the new Embassy is a step in the right direction for even better relations of the two countries. Before the construction, we have been keeping them the best possible, but the new building will be a new symbol and encouragement to work together, said the Ambassador.
The building of diplomatic-consular headquarters of Japan will have 4.250 sqm. The object will be of polygonal shape with entrance hall, projected in modern architectural style. Expected date for finalization of works is beginning of 2015. Architectural solution was done by Japanese architects.
'Green maintenance of Belgrade' will arrange the front of the Embassy into a Japanese garden. The value of of works is 2.228.140 rsd, and PUC Belgrade Water and Sewerage took over responsibility of conducting necessary works on outdoor installations of water and sewerage, by the project solution of Japanese architects.
