DynCorp international has informed the Government of Serbia that it gives up the project for the construction of the biggest cargo center in Southeast Europe, at Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade, due to alleged stock-market crash.

Minister Milan Parivodić even announced charges due to unjustified withdrawal. Also, company Africa-Israel is in the problems because it already builds the business center near the Belgrade airport.

The deputy general manager of Airport "Nikola Tesla", Goran Kaličanin, announced that the new strategic partner should be found for construction of the cargo terminal.

Airport "Nikola Tesla" and DynCorp signed the document in January 2006 and adopted the draft Contract on strategic partnership between the two companies and forming of joint venture for constuction and management of cargo terminal. The project for construction of cargo terminal and logistic center on surface of about 280,000 square meters, of total value of 250m USD, should be finished in three-year time and employ 5,000 people.

Israeli company "Engel group", the second-ranked tender participant, expects call and offer to implement that project. It is not for sure that "Engel" would accept the offer, but it would take that possibility into serious consideration, said David Ericson, who represented Engel group on the tender.

He added that possible acceptance of the job did not depend solely on the Group, but also on the partners with which they had appeared on the tender.

(Note : David Ericson represents Engel group in the realization of Marina Dorćol project in Belgrade at the moment)
