Simpo's bank account unblocked
The bank account of the parent company Simpo has been unblocked after the company settled all its tax debts to the Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO) Fund, the Tax Authority of Serbia said in a release today.
Simpo has also paid all pension and disability insurance taxes for its subsidiaries, but their bank accounts will remain blocked until it is checked whether the debts are paid in total.
As Beta news agency reports, Simpo has paid RSD 1.3 billion to settle its debts to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund.
Based on a decision adopted by the Serbian government, Simpo's tax debts have been converted to a state-owned stake.
The government granted an interest-free short-term loan of RSD 1.5 billion to Simpo on August 28th to settle its debt to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund.
Simpo, which employs about 4,500 workers, has promised to pay all taxes to the state and workers on a regular basis.
