Tesla ready for Air Serbia - Belgrade's airport already handles as many passengers as airports in Ljubljana and Zagreb put together
The formation of Air Serbia and a highly ambitious expansion of flight timetable to 12 destinations should boost passenger traffic at Nikola Tesla Airport, especially in the winter, and turn it into the busiest airport in the Balkans.
The idea is to gather all passengers from the surrounding countries during three daily cycles of departures, and then operate flights from Belgrade to all important destinations in southeast Europe. According to the airport authorities, Nikola Tesla is ready for this, given that it has recently handled a record high of 17,000 passengers per day.
Over the last few years, without the indication that a strategic partner could be found, the airport has started implementing tens of millions of euros worth of investments from its own resources.
Nikola Tesla Airport Director Velimir Radosavljevic says that the arrival of Air Serbia at Nikola Tesla Airport will benefit not only this airport, but also the entire aviation economy of Serbia.
