Geox gets land in Vranje - Footwear maker to build 20,000 sqm factory and hire 1,250 workers
An agreement to allot public land for free was signed Friday in the Town Hall of Vranje. This building land is located in Bunusevac Industrial Zone where Geox plans to build its production facility.
The agreement was signed between the Republic Property Directorate and the Tehnik Development company registered in Serbia by Geox, as well as between the City of Vranje and that company.
Signatories are Vranje Mayor Zoran Antic, Tehnik Development CEO Gianluca Tanzi, and Director of the Republic Property Directorate Jovan Vorkapic.
This public land will be used to build a production facility spanning about 20,000 square meters.
Vranje Mayor Zoran Antic said that the new factory would hire about 1,250 workers in the first phase alone, adding that another 1,250 workers would get a job in the second phase of the production cycle, when few significant partners were expected to join the project.
Gianluca Tanzi noted that the facility would be completed by August 2014, stressing that the first Geox shoes would be produced as early as September, in a rented facility of former Karmens.
