Leading pharmaceutical giant arrives in the region - AbbVie opens office in Croatia
Global biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, which focuses on the development of advanced therapies for the world's most complex and most serious diseases, has opened an office in Croatia, SeeBiz has reported.
At the opening ceremony, AbbVie Director-General for the Adriatic Region and Croatia Ljubisa Mitof Visurski talked about the company, while Dr. Robert Vianelo, senior research associate at Rudjer Boskovic Institute, spoke about the importance of innovations in science and the development of drugs.
Visurski said on that occasion that AbbVie would invest 14 percent of its revenue in clinical trials for new drugs in 2013.
AbbVie was separated from the global pharmaceutical company Abbott Laboratories in January 2013 to become an independent company. It has a tradition spanning 125 years.
The company's portfolio in Croatia currently includes ten drugs, the most important of which are biological drugs that help patients suffering from rheumatic and inflammatory bowel diseases and psoriasis.
