Today, in the Belgrade-based Institute Mihajlo Pupin, a laboratory for electric devices testing and quality improvement which will be aligned with the European Union standards has been opened.

The European Commission set aside a total of EUR 900.000 for the opening of the laboratory, the first of a kind in Serbia, an investment of some EUR 1 mil, through the Programme of the regional social-economic development.

At the press conference, the Project Manager for the Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), Nikola Nenadic, said that the laboratory would contribute to competitiveness of the local information-communication technologies (ICT), but that it would also be used for EMC testing and training for EMC product design.

The Assistant to the Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ivica Radovic, said that according to the number of published works, Serbia is in the rank of the developed countries.

- Out of 784 scientific projects in Serbia per year, 21 national projects are implemented in the Mihajlo Pupin Institute as well as 22 European projects – he added.

Radovic stressed out that the lab is an excellent supplement to the IT technology development strategy and that it is a good indicator showing knowledge is appreciated in Serbia.
