Foreign currency from Fiat - Serbia reaches exports worth EUR 950 mil in April
Only during April, Serbia succeeded in exporting goods worth EUR 950 mil, It almost by third better result compared to the same month last year. During the first four months thus year, our producers exported goods totaling EUR 3,2 billion but we spent EUR 4,9 billion on import.
The largest part of export was generated by processing industry. In the first four months, car export totaled more than half a billion euro. The second most important Serbian exporter is food industry. By April, exports of food reached EUR 350 mil, followed by chemical industry with EUR 244 million and textile industry with exports of EUR 133 million.
-After a record monthly growth in April when it reached EUR 950 mil, at one point it will exceed a billion euro per month by the end of the year – Secretary of the State at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Aleksandar Ljubic said.
- In Q1, Serbia generated good macro economical results. In the first three months, industrial production rose by 5,6% and exports by 2,4%, compared to the same period last year. The exported generated growth mostly due to exports increase of Kragujevac-based Fiat and its component producing sections.
This year’s motor vehicles export increased four times compared to the same period last year. It was followed by import increase though. In the beginning of last year, we imported vehicles totaling EUR 258 million for – EUR 570 million. The biggest foreign partner of Serbia is Italy, followed by Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
When it comes to food, Serbia’s biggest export is generated through fruit and vegetable export. During the first four months, exports reached EUR 119 mil. It is followed by crops with EUR 112 mil.
