Serbia and Czech Republic ink agreement on cooperation in environmental protection

Serbia and Czech Republic signed today in Belgrade an agreement to work together in the field of environmental protection in 2013 and 2014.

This document was signed on the premises of the Serbian government by Serbian Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic and Czech Minister of Environment Tomasz Halupa.

The two ministries will work together in waste management, recycling, water and air quality control, in the field of climate changes as well as energy efficiency and renewables projects.

Mihajlovic said that the two countries would also exchange experiences in joining the EU.

Czech Minister Halupa explained that the cooperation would also help them overcome the challenges in environmental protection that both countries were facing.

Halupa added that the biggest environmental problems in Czech Republic were air and water quality, industrial pollution as well as pollution caused by traffic and heating plants, wastewater and waste management.
