Jeanci Serbia gives up construction of company in Leskovac - Turks continue production in rented halls
Turkish Jeanci Serbia which produces denim clothes in Leskovac gave up the construction of new plant, the Mayor of Leskovac, Goran Cvetanovic, has said today.
Upon his visit to the Nevena company, he said to journalists that the Turkish company would not leave Leskovac but that it sent him a letter that “at this moment” they would give up the construction of the new facility of 22.000 square meters.
- We do not know the reasons but we get an impression that they are not satisfied because they we did not give them land where they were planning to build a factory – Cvetanovic said.
Some 150 employees of Jeanci Serbia in a leased space in Leskovac is producing clothes of the famous world company. The owners of the company have earlier announced that the new company would employ 1.150 textile workers.
Cvetanovic said that he believed that the Turks would not leave Leskovac because in the meantime they bought the space of ex Jugohem factory and rented Srbolek space on a five-year period.
- I was told they would employ another 700 employees – the Mayor of Leskovac said. Next week, he is visiting Istanbul-based factory Jeanci Istanbul.
