Serbia expects donation in amount of about 90m EUR for projects for development of transportation network on the Danube
Through IPA Program (successor to CARDS Program), EU will provide donation in amount of 70-90m EUR within the following three years for projects and studies related to development of central regional transportation network on the section that passes through Serbia.
Most of the money will be spent on Corridor 7 (the Danube river), that is, on the projects that imply preparation of navigable waterways for higher level of services.
According to the words of Miodrag Jocić, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments, the Government of Serbia will finance completion of Corridor 10 from the National Investment Plan and, therefore, it is logical that it is insisted on co-financing of the Danube projects. That means that the Government of Serbia would finance 50% of the work, whereas the rest would be provided from the IPA Program.
EU will provide 12m EUR for the river information system. Construction of Žeželj's bridge would cost EU 16m EUR, whereas the replacement of steel dams on Đerdap 1 and 2 would cost about 20m EUR. Also, 10m EUR are needed to have all sank boats taken out from the Danube.
