Drilling of first tunnels on Corridor XI kicks off
Drilling of the Brdjani Tunnel, the first tunnel on the future motorway from Belgrade to Montenegro, began Monday in an area between Gornji Milanovac and Cacak and should be completed in two years.
The work is being carried out by the Belgrade construction company Planum.
Director of the Koridori Srbije (Corridors of Serbia) company Dmitar Djurovic told Tanjug news agency that the Brdjani Tunnel near the namesake village would be 455 meters long and represent one of the five tunnels on the 40,3 kilometer section from Ljig to Preljina, where construction works are being carried out by the Azerbaijani company AzVirt.
Djurovic said that construction companies were performing preliminary works and preparing to launch the construction of remaining tunnels.
In addition to the Brdjani Tunnel, companies should also build the 125-meter Golubac Tunnel near Ljig and 200-meter Veliki Kik Tunnel as well as 270-meter Savnica Tunnel near Gornji Milanovac and 887-meter Sarani Tunnel.
Construction work on the expropriated section of land from Brdjane to Preljina is also underway and around eight kilometers should be prepared for paving.
