Allowed aflatoxin level returned to 0.5 micrograms
The Serbian government has decided to amend the Regulations on the allowed aflatoxin level in milk and increase it from current 0.05 to 0.5 micrograms per kilogram, thus returning it to the same level as two years ago, Minister of Agriculture Goran Knezevic said today.
As he noted, the government has received opinions from all competent institutions, including the Health Ministry, Military Medical Academy (VMA) and Batut Institute, saying that there are damaging effects on health.
This quantity of aflatoxin has no negative impact on people's health, and the government's decision will enable milk exports to two thirds of the world, Knezevic said at a press conference.
