Serbian technology in China - Cacak-based Stax among top ten manufacturers of packaging machines for paper industry

One of the top ten companies in the field of production of packaging machines for the paper industry operates in Konjevic near Cacak and has an ambition to make it to the top three in the world in the near future. This company exports 99 percent of production, and there are only few of its machines operating in Serbia.

Mladen Starcevic, director of the Stax company, says to eKapija that 25 employees, 7 of whom are engineers, work hard every day to improve the technology, adding that the price also helps them stay competitive.

- We have the best quality-price ratio. We fought against prejudices about high technology coming from this area and we won that battle.

They specialize in the development, design and production of machines for the paper industry. What is characteristic for this company is that they are focused on high technologies, which are rather atypical for our country, so it is not surprising that most of their partners are from abroad.

- Our machines are the most common in Russia and former Soviet countries, as well as in Tunis, Morocco, Canada and the USA, and we are also negotiating exports to China now. Our line will be shipped to Venezuela in April - Starcevic says and adds that they have also conquered the very specific market of Brazil, where they now expand their business.

He believes that Serbia should not export raw materials only, but that it should also "market its intelligence" around the world.

- We do our best to follow all global trends and the latest technological achievements. We've confirmed that the company has a high level of flexibility in working with clients, so that it can meet all their requirements in a very short time. In order to achieve that level of competence and quality, we keep the pace with the latest global trends in the paper industry and work on the modernization of technologies and their quick implementation within the production process.

Stax is this year's winner of the ProBusiness Leader Award for the most successful entrepreneur.

This company exists since 2002, and the biggest number of their packaging machines are distributed in cooperation with the 9. septembar company. Production takes place in Konjevici near Cacak.

- We annually deliver about 25 automatic packaging lines for napkins, toilet paper rolls, paper towels. Now we work on the development of several new toilet paper packaging lines, and we are also engaged in a very serious line implementation project in one of the world's strongest organization in this field - our interlocutor explains and adds that he cannot unveil any details of that project until the process is completed.

As Starcevic says, if everything goes as planned and these projects come to life, Stax will double its production in 2014.
