Czech companies ready to start electrification of Nis-Dimitrovgrad railroad in spring
Czech companies are ready to start the modernization and electrification of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railroad on Corridor X this spring, which will be financed with the proceeds of the Czech loan of EUR 120 million, the Serbian railway company Serbian Railways said in a release today.
According to the release, this is a conclusion from a meeting between Serbian Railways CEO Dragoljub Simonovic and a delegation of the Czech company AZD led by its regional manager for southeast Europe, Rene Sigut.
The release reads that the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railroad is the only non-electrified section of the Corridor X railway route and that the work can start as soon as an agreement is signed.
A loan for the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railroad modernization has been approved by the Czech Export Bank on the basis of an interstate agreement between Serbia and Czech Republic.
At the meeting, the two sides also talked about the possibility of involving AZD in other projects aimed at modernizing the railway infrastructure in Serbia.
