Overview: The municipality of Ruma spreads in the central and southern Srem region. There are 17 settlements on the territory of the municipality: Putinci, Hrtkovci, Platičevo, Nikinci, Buđanovci, Dobrinci, Voganj, Grabovci, Kraljevci, Stejanovci, Žarkovac, Vitojevci, Donji Petrovci, Mali Radinci, and Ruma, being its administrative centre. The municipality covers the area of 582 km².

Population: There are a total of 61,287 inhabitants in the municipality of Ruma, which takes the tenth place in Vojvodina by its size. As for spatial distribution of labour force, the majority of workers are employed in the municipality centre, Ruma, whereas 7,479 persons are unemployed.

Economy: The municipality is an agricultural area with the majority of population being engaged in this branch of economy. Industrial potentials include production of leather goods, plastic materials, rubber goods, construction materials, ready-wear, knitted fabrics, footwear industry, metal industry, printing, timber and wood processing industry and food-processing industry. Trade, crafts, and catering are also significant. Private enterprise is being developed, in particular in the field of production.

Infrastructure: Particularly important is local transport with railway and road networks of Srem region, Vojvodina, and Serbia. It is bordered by the Belgrade-Zagreb motorway and M 21 principal road Novi Sad-Šabac. Ruma is 55 km away from Belgrade, and 33 km from Novi Sad. The international Belgrade airport is less than 50 km away from it.

Tourism: The municipality is situated on the slopes of the Fruška Gora national park abounding in potentials for the development of hiking tourism. They are even more engorged by the two artificial lakes in the municipality, one of which, the Borkovačko lake is very important for the town and the municipality of Ruma. Hunting grounds are also very famous, protected marsh “Obedska Bara”, and archaeological sites.

LOCATION 1

Site: Working zone “Iriski drum”

Total area: 7 ha

Type of ownership: private property

Intented use: Construction of structures for the service industry sector

Site description: The site is stretching along the principal road M 21, the main traffic route. It is located on the way into the settlement of Ruma, direction from Novi Sad. There is one gas station already on the site.

Service infrastructure: The site is not fully equipped with infrastructure/ public utilities, has access to energy, water supply system is not good condition, gas supply systems and connection to sewerage reticulation is planned. There is access to optical fibre cable.

Additional information: Private property can be purchased directly from the owners, in accordance with its market value. The planning and regulatory documentation already exists. The shortest possible period necessary for obtaining all the required permissions and approvals for construction on the site is 30 days.

LOCATION 2

Site: Working zone “Istok”

Total area: 30 ha

Type of ownership: private and public property

Intented use: Construction of structures for small-scale industry or industrial plants

Site description: The site is situated along the principal road M-21. There are already 4 office buildings on the site.

Service infrastructure: The site has access to energy supply system. Water and gas supply systems, connection to sewerage reticulation, access to optical fibre cable are planned.

Additional information: Long-term lease of land is possible. The shortest possible period necessary for obtaining all the required permissions and approvals for construction on the site is 30 days. The planning and regulatory documentation, such as Regulation Plan of East Working Zone already exists.

LOCATION 3

Site: Working zone “Zapad” - 1

Total area: 110 ha

Number of facilities on the site: 15

Type of ownership: public property

Intented use: Construction of structures for small-scale industry or industrial plants

Site description: The site is located 1 km off the railway line. Local road network links it to country and principal road, and to the E 70 highway.

Service infrastructure: The site is equipped with infrastructure/ public utilities, has access to energy, water and gas supply systems, connection to sewerage reticulation, access to optical fibre cable.

Additional information: Long-term lease of land is possible. The planning and regulatory documentation, such as Detailed Regulation Plan is being prepared now. The shortest possible period necessary for obtaining all the required permissions and approvals for construction on the site is 30 days.

LOCATION 4

Site: Working zone “Zapad” - 2

Total area: 300 ha

Type of ownership: public property (one enterprise being the present user)

Intented use: construction of industrial plants

Site description: The site is located along the highway E 70 (Belgrade – Zagreb/ Croatia) and principal road M-21. There is already one chemical plant located on the site.

Service infrastructure: The site is not equipped with infrastructure/ public utilities, power supply network, water and gas pipeline connection points are near the site.

Additional information: The shortest possible period necessary for obtaining all the required permissions and approvals for construction on the site is 6 months. The planning and regulatory documentation already exists.
