Baku to host first European Olympic Games in 2015
The first European Olympic Games are set to take place in 2015, featuring fifteen different sports, Daily Mail reports.
After years of contemplating, the European Olympic Committee has voted to hold the European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, the same city that hosted the Eurovision Song Contest this year.
Although Russia and Turkey were thought to be first choice in terms of host nation, Azerbaijan was in fact the only country to make a bid.
Out of the 49 members of the EOC, 38 voted in favour and only eight voted against. The competition will be held every four years, in a similar manner to the Pan-American Games, and feature around 15 sports on the program.
