Possible construction of 350 MW thermal power station in Stavalj
Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic stated Tuesday (4 December 2012) that there was a possibility of building a 350 MW thermal power station in Stavalj and invited all interested investors to contact that ministry.
She said at the opening ceremony of a water treatment plant in Stavalj that there were reserves of top-quality brown coal containing less than one percent of sulfur.
Mihajlovic added that previous ministries had talked about an investment in the expansion of the brown coal mine in Stavalj and the construction of a thermal power station, but she stressed that she was just notified of that.
She also pointed out that the Energy Ministry was the right address for energy investors.
- The ministry will present the list of energy investment priorities in Serbia on December 14th. One of the projects we find very important is a thermal power station in Stavalj - Mihajlovic said.
She underlined that the Serbian government wanted to help the development of Pester because it was one of the devastated areas in Serbia.
The brown coal mine Stavalj operates as part of the public company for underground coal exploitation Resavica.
